I used to hit decline too.

Until I studied every lateral from the 2024 season.
 📊 And the numbers changed everything.

In 2024, NFL teams ran 15 designed lateral plays.
 Only 1 fumble.

They also ran 8 improvised laterals

 in real game flow
 0 fumbles

23 total lateral attempts and no turnovers.
 That’s a safer rate than most inside zone handoffs.

When planned

 or emerged naturally in rhythm

 laterals worked


Why? Because players knew what to look for

Because reps

beat risk.

Coaches say they want these plays, but theyre afraid

 Just start.

Don’t call it gimmicky until you’ve repped it.

Don’t call it “not who we are” until you’ve asked why not?

The lateral isn’t a trick play.
It’s a missed opportunity.
